Fine ‘essay mills’ to stop cheating, say researchers

Heavy fines should be introduced to crackdown on companies that help university students to cheat by selling professionally written essays, according to researchers.


The study comes amid mounting concerns that the number of students paying websites for custom-written essays – known as “essay mills” – has rocketed in recent years.


The research looked into 21 websites that offer students dissertation writing services and found that current laws do not go far enough to bring a criminal cases against them.
