University of Leeds to introduce the first Black British History module in the country
It is being co-constructed with a black PhD history student.
On the 2nd May, the School of History at the University of Leeds announced that it was developing a Black British History module – the first of its kind in the country. It is being created as a direct result of Education Officer Melz’s “Why is my Curriculum White” campaign that has been taking place in Leeds for the last two years – since Melissa first became Education Officer.
The module is being co-constructed with a black PhD history student who is currently writing his thesis on the Black British Power movement.
