Exam stressed students calling Childline are up 11% in just two years
Thousands of children have phoned Childline due to overwhelming exam stress.
The helpline delivered 3,135 counselling sessions with kids in 2016/17 - up 11% in two years.
More than a fifth took place in May as pupils faced upcoming exams with many confessing to counsellors that they were struggling with subjects, excessive workloads and feeling unprepared.
The most likely children to be hit by exam stress are those aged between 12 and 15.
Worryingly, young people are even telling counsellors exam stress is contributing to anxiety, panic attacks, excessive crying, low self-esteem, self-harming and even suicidal thoughts.
